A workshop practice
built around the
household itself.
Nestiva exists to help Malaysian families organise their household records and hold conversations that matter โ calmly, at their own pace, without outside judgement.
โ Back to HomeHow Nestiva came to be
Nestiva began with a straightforward observation: many households in Malaysia carry a great deal of organisational knowledge in one person's head. When that person is unavailable โ whether temporarily or at length โ the household can feel the weight of that gap. Documents are hard to locate. Roles are undefined. Conversations that should happen have been quietly postponed.
The name Nestiva draws from the word nest โ the domestic space as a place held together by many small, considered contributions โ and from vita, the Latin word for a life well-documented. A household map, in Nestiva's framing, is a living document. It does not need to be complete or formal. It simply needs to exist, to be shared, and to be revisited.
Nestiva's founder spent several years working in document facilitation and adult education before recognising that families, as organising units, had almost no dedicated support for the kind of low-key, everyday record-keeping that keeps a household oriented. The response was a structured facilitation practice that is educational in nature, organisational in output, and conversational in approach.
The practice is based in Kuala Lumpur and works with households across the Klang Valley. All sessions are conducted in English. The facilitator does not provide professional advice of any kind; the household makes its own decisions, with the facilitator providing structure, questions, and a calm environment in which to work.
What we are here to do
Nestiva's work is to make household organisation a shared act rather than a solitary one. By giving a family a structured way to draw its own map, we support quieter, more considered households โ ones where records are accessible, responsibilities are named, and conversations have a rhythm.
We do not tell households what their records should look like. We offer the structure, the questions, and the time. The household does the mapping.
Educational, not advisory
Sessions are teaching and facilitation contexts. Nestiva does not provide legal, financial, or medical counsel and does not represent any household externally.
Calm and unhurried
There is no pressure to cover more ground than a household is ready to cover. Sessions move at the family's pace, not a predetermined one.
Household-owned output
Every document, folder, and map created during sessions belongs entirely to the household. Nestiva retains no copies and shares nothing with third parties.
The Nestiva team
Siti Rahmah
Lead Facilitator
Siti brings twelve years of adult education experience to every Nestiva session. She developed the household mapping framework that underpins all three programmes.
Azlan Khalid
Records Design Advisor
Azlan's background is in information architecture. He designed Nestiva's four-room records folder structure and guides households through the Records Map Programme.
Lim Yeen Fang
Household Communications Facilitator
Yeen Fang focuses on the conversation side of household mapping โ helping families identify the topics they have been meaning to address and find a calm way to begin.
How we work
Qualified facilitation
All Nestiva facilitators hold adult education qualifications and have completed training in structured household communication facilitation.
Session documentation
Each session produces a clear output โ a map, a labelled folder, or a reviewed plan โ that the household takes away. No session ends without a named deliverable.
Strict information privacy
Household information shared in sessions is used only to support the session itself. It is never stored, shared, or discussed outside the immediate facilitation context.
Scope discipline
Facilitators do not stray into professional advisory territory. If a household question falls outside the educational scope, the facilitator names that clearly and suggests appropriate resources.
Post-session availability
Programme participants may contact Nestiva between sessions with logistical questions. Facilitators respond within two working days during session hours.
Household feedback review
Each completed programme includes a short feedback review. Nestiva uses this to refine session structure and to confirm that each household found the work useful.
Household organisation as a shared, ongoing practice
Malaysian households often manage considerable complexity โ extended family structures, multiple income streams, property arrangements, care responsibilities โ without any shared system for keeping track of it all. That complexity does not require a professional solution. What it often requires is a structured hour or two in which the household's adults sit together and draw out what they know.
Nestiva's work is built on the principle that a household's own knowledge is its most valuable organisational resource. The facilitator's role is to ask the questions that surface that knowledge and give it a useful shape: a printed page with named roles, a folder with labelled sections, a quarterly conversation that keeps the whole picture current.
The household mapping approach draws from cartographic vocabulary โ the home as a space with rooms, with routes, with markers โ because that framing invites both rigour and warmth. A map is precise, but it is also personal. Nestiva's session outputs reflect that combination: organised, labelled, and distinctly belonging to the household that made them.
Sessions are conducted at Nestiva's Kuala Lumpur premises. The facilitator speaks in English throughout. All programmes are educational in character; no professional, legal, financial, or healthcare advice is given at any point.
